Kari Sutherland

Kari Sutherland is an American author who writes both original middle-grade fantasy and film novelizations. With her sister, Wings of Fire author Tui T. Sutherland, she co-created The Menagerie, a fantasy series that begins with The Menagerie and continues with Dragon on Trial, imagining a secret sanctuary where magical creatures such as griffins and unicorns are hidden from discovery. Sutherland has also written movie tie-in novels adapting Disney and family films for young readers, including Alice Through the Looking Glass, Dumbo: Circus of Dreams, and a companion guide to A Wrinkle in Time, as well as a retelling of Moana. Her work sits at the intersection of original fantasy world-building and licensed film adaptation for children.
