Kat Dunn

Kat Dunn is an English author of sapphic historical fantasy and gothic fiction. She debuted with Dangerous Remedy (2020), opening the young adult Battalion of the Dead trilogy, which follows revolutionaries-turned-monster-hunters during the French Revolution and continues in Monstrous Design (2021) and Glorious Poison (2022). She moved into adult fiction with the fairy-tale retelling Bitterthorn (2023), shortlisted for the Nero Book Awards and the Polari Prize, and Hungerstone (2025), a feminist reworking of Carmilla that won the Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Fiction and the Lord Ruthven Award and was shortlisted for the British Fantasy Award for Best Horror Novel. Dunn holds a degree in Japanese from SOAS University of London and a master's in English from the University of Warwick, and is fluent in English, French, and Japanese.
