Kate Cary is a British author born in 1967 near Birmingham, England. She studied history at Royal Holloway, University of London, and worked writing instructional and activity books before novelist Victoria Holmes recruited her in 2003 to write the Warriors series under the shared pseudonym Erin Hunter, alongside Holmes and Cherith Baldry; Cary contributed volumes including Into the Wild, Fire and Ice, The Sight, Bluestar's Prophecy, and The Last Hope before retiring from the series in 2024. Separately, under her own name, she wrote Bloodline (2005), an epistolary sequel to Dracula set during the First World War, and its follow-up, Reckoning (2007). Cary also created the fan community website BlogClan.
