Kate Elliott

Kate Elliott (born 1958), the pen name of Alis A. Rasmussen, is an American author of epic fantasy and science fiction. After her early novels under her birth name found limited success, she adopted the Kate Elliott name in the early 1990s, beginning with the four-volume Jaran series. She is best known for Crown of Stars, a seven-book epic fantasy sequence launched with King's Dragon (1997), a Nebula Award finalist, and for the Spiritwalker trilogy, an alternate-history fantasy blending Ice Age Europe with airships and African diaspora politics. Her other works include the Crossroads trilogy, the young-adult Court of Fives quartet, and the space opera Sun Chronicles, beginning with Unconquerable Sun (2020). She co-wrote The Golden Key, a World Fantasy Award finalist, with Melanie Rawn and Jennifer Roberson. Elliott lives in Hawaii.
