Kate Milford

Kate Milford is an American writer of fantasy and mystery fiction for young readers, best known for the novel Greenglass House (2014), nominated for the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Juvenile Mystery. Set in the fictional smugglers' port of Nagspeake, it follows an innkeeper's adopted son whose quiet winter is disrupted by a string of secretive guests, each tied to the house's hidden history. Milford expanded the story in sequels including Ghosts of Greenglass House and The Thief Knot, and has built a wider body of interconnected Nagspeake fiction, among them The Boneshaker, The Broken Lands, and the adventure novel Bluecrowne. Greenglass House was also a finalist for the Agatha Award and the Cybils Award for speculative fiction, cementing Milford's reputation for atmospheric, puzzle-driven world-building.
