Katie Alender is an American author of young adult horror and thriller fiction. Raised in South Florida, she studied communication arts and later attended Florida State University's film school before working in Los Angeles television production. She writes suspenseful, supernaturally tinged novels for teen readers, beginning with the Bad Girls Don't Die series about a haunted family home, and continuing through Marie Antoinette, Serial Killer, Famous Last Words, and The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall. Her 2020 novel The Companion, a gothic boarding-school thriller, won the Edgar Award for Best Young Adult Novel. Alender is a member of SCBWI, Mystery Writers of America, and the International Thriller Writers.
