Kelly Gay is an American author of urban fantasy and science fiction who lives in North Carolina with her husband and two children. She is best known for the Charlie Madigan series, beginning with The Better Part of Darkness (2009), which follows a single-mother police officer investigating supernatural crime in an Atlanta reshaped by the discovery of two paranormal dimensions; the series was a RITA Award double finalist and won a Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance "Okra Pick." She also writes young adult urban fantasy as Kelly Keaton, including the Gods and Monsters series set in a post-disaster New Orleans, and has contributed licensed tie-in novels to the Halo video game franchise. She received a North Carolina Arts Council literature fellowship in 2006.
