Kevin Sands is a Canadian author of children's historical mystery fiction from Ontario, who taught high school mathematics and physics before turning to writing full time. His debut novel, The Blackthorn Key, published by Simon & Schuster in 2015, introduced apothecary's apprentice Christopher Rowe and launched a six-book series set in seventeenth-century England involving codes, conspiracies, and the court of King Charles II. He followed it with the Thieves of Shadow trilogy, beginning with Children of the Fox, named among the best books of 2021 by the Chicago Public Library and CBC Books. Sands's historical mysteries have won the Cybils Award, the Geoffrey Bilson Award, a Crime Writers of Canada award, and the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Children's Book Award, along with multiple Edgar Award nominations.
