L. J. Hachmeister

L. J. Hachmeister (1980-2023) was an American author of science-fiction and fantasy series. She is best known for the Triorion Universe, a space-opera saga that includes Awakening, Outlier, Abomination, and the two-part Reborn, following characters caught between rival factions in an interstellar conflict shaped by genetic experimentation and questions of identity. She extended the same continuity into the related Shadowless books, a darker offshoot exploring the setting's fringes. Hachmeister also contributed to shared anthology projects outside her main universe, including the science-fiction collection Parallel Worlds: The Heroes Within and the animal-rescue charity anthology Instinct. Across more than a decade of publishing, her fiction combined fast-paced interstellar adventure with a sustained interest in what genetic manipulation does to individual identity and loyalty.
