Leo Carew

Leo Carew is a British author, born and raised in central London, who studied biological anthropology at Cambridge University before training as a doctor. He worked as an Arctic guide in Svalbard, living in a tent for a year, and later undertook a Greenland climbing expedition before completing his medical degree in 2020 and working in intensive care during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is the author of the Under the Northern Sky trilogy—The Wolf, The Spider, and The Cuckoo—an alternate-history epic fantasy pitting an ice-age human nation against a physically superior rival people, the Anakim, in a Britain shaped by a colder climate. Carew wrote the trilogy's later volumes between medical training and hospital shifts, including one written while overwintering on an abandoned Hebridean island, and continues to divide his time between medicine and writing.
