Lillian Stewart Carl

Lillian Stewart Carl is an American author, born in 1949, who writes mystery, fantasy, and science fiction, often blending genres with paranormal elements. She began in science fiction and fantasy with the Sabazel quartet, including the novels Sabazel and The Winter King, before moving into romantic suspense and the Jean Fairbairn and Alasdair Cameron mystery series, among them The Secret Portrait, The Murder Hole, and The Burning Glass. Her novel Lucifer's Crown is considered among her most acclaimed. Carl also co-edited The Vorkosigan Companion, a reference guide to Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga, which received a Hugo Award nomination for Best Related Book in 2009. A longtime friend of Bujold, she is credited with encouraging her toward a writing career. She lives in North Texas and belongs to several professional writers' organizations.
