Lisa A. Barnett (1958-2006) was an American science fiction writer and editor from Dorchester, Massachusetts, who worked for Heinemann Publishing and Baker's Plays alongside her fiction career. All of her published novels were written with her longtime partner, Melissa Scott, beginning with The Armor of Light (1988) and continuing with the Points sequence set in the invented city of Astreiant, Point of Hopes and Point of Dreams, fantasy mysteries that combine astrological magic with police-procedural plotting. Point of Dreams won a Lambda Literary Award, reflecting the pair's prominence in queer speculative fiction. Barnett's career, cut short by her death in 2006, remains defined almost entirely by this sustained creative partnership.
