Lisa Jewell

Lisa Jewell is a British author of popular fiction, born in London in 1968. She studied fashion illustration and promotion and worked in the fashion industry before taking up creative writing after being made redundant; her debut novel, Ralph's Party, became the UK's bestselling debut of 1999. She has since built her career chiefly in contemporary and psychological thriller fiction, with novels including Then She Was Gone, The Family Upstairs, and None of This Is True, winning the Melissa Nathan Award for Comedy Romance and a British Book Award. Alongside her many standalone novels, Jewell wrote Breaking the Dark, a licensed Jessica Jones tie-in novel for Marvel's Marvel Crime imprint, applying her taut suspense style to a superhero-adjacent private investigator. She lives and continues to write in London.
