Lisa Maxwell

Lisa Maxwell is an American author born in 1979 in Ohio who writes young-adult fantasy. She is a New York Times bestselling author best known for The Last Magician quartet, an alternate-history series set in a gaslamp-era New York City where a hidden society of magicians struggles against persecution; its volumes include The Last Magician, The Devil's Thief, The Shattered City, and The Serpent's Curse. Her earlier work includes the Sweet Unrest duology (Sweet Unrest, Gathering Deep), a young-adult paranormal romance series, and the standalone novel Unhooked. Across her books, Maxwell favors immersive historical or fantastical settings, ensemble casts, and tightly plotted mysteries with a romantic throughline, and she has continued to expand The Last Magician's world in later volumes such as Keeper of the Rend.
