Lisa Morton

Lisa Morton is an American author and screenwriter born in 1958 in Pasadena, California. She began her career in the film industry as a modelmaker on Star Trek: The Motion Picture before moving into screenwriting and horror fiction. A prolific novelist, editor, and nonfiction historian, she is particularly known for her scholarship on Halloween, including The Halloween Encyclopedia and Trick or Treat: A History of Halloween, alongside horror fiction such as The Castle of Los Angeles and edited anthologies including Haunted Nights and Ghost Stories: Classic Tales of Horror and Suspense. Morton has won Bram Stoker Awards in multiple categories, including for Best First Novel and Best Non-Fiction, and received the Horror Writers Association's Bram Stoker Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025. She served as HWA president from 2014 to 2019.
