Lissa Price

Lissa Price is an American author known for the young-adult science-fiction duology Starters and Enders. Published by Delacorte Press beginning in 2012, Starters is set in a future Los Angeles where a biological weapon has wiped out everyone except the very young and the very old; its teenage protagonist, unable to afford care as an unprotected minor, rents out her body to wealthy elderly clients through an illegal service. The novel was translated into numerous languages and received favorable reviews, including from the Los Angeles Times, and screen rights were optioned following publication. Price has said the premise was partly inspired by being turned away from a flu-shot clinic due to vaccine shortages. Enders concluded the story two years later, and the duology remains Price's primary published work to date.
