M. D. Lachlan

M. D. Lachlan is a pen name of Mark Barrowcliffe, an English writer born in 1964 in Coventry. Barrowcliffe first made his name with comic 'lad lit' novels such as Girlfriend 44 and the memoir The Elfish Gene, which drew on his teenage years playing Dungeons & Dragons. As M. D. Lachlan he turned to dark fantasy with the Wolfsangel series, a saga weaving Norse mythology, werewolves, and reincarnation across historical settings from the Viking age onward, continued in Fenrir, Lord of Slaughter, and later volumes. Writing as Mark Alder, he also began the historical fantasy series Banners of Blood. He studied at the University of Sussex and worked as a journalist before becoming a novelist, and has had film rights to his work optioned, including a project attached to director Ron Howard.
