M. G. Herron

M. G. Herron, whose given name is Matt Herron, is an American independent author of science fiction based in Austin, Texas. He began writing because he wanted books that combined the scope of epic space opera with characters readers could genuinely connect with, and has gone on to publish more than a dozen novels spanning military space opera, science-fiction detective noir, and portal fantasy. His series include Relics of the Ancients, beginning with Starfighter Down, The Gunn Files, and the Translocator trilogy, exploring themes of first contact and ancient alien civilizations. His books have sold more than 100,000 copies and have been licensed for audio and adaptation by Audible Studios and Podium Entertainment. Herron lives with his wife, four children, and a dog, drawing inspiration from hikes in Austin's Greenbelt.
