Mario Acevedo, born July 6, 1955, in El Paso, Texas, is an American author of urban fantasy who lives in Denver, Colorado. Before turning to fiction, he served in the U.S. Army as a military helicopter pilot, paratrooper, infantry officer, and combat artist, deploying during Operation Desert Storm, and later worked as an engineer, art teacher, and software programmer. He is best known for the Felix Gomez series, following a Chicano vampire private investigator through pulpy, satirical adventures that began with The Nymphos of Rocky Flats and continued through titles such as X-Rated Bloodsuckers, The Undead Kama Sutra, and Jailbait Zombie. Acevedo has also written the standalone fantasy The Bane of Yoto and collaborated on crime fiction with other authors.
