Matthew Cody

Matthew Cody is an American author of fiction for children and teens, born and raised near St. Louis, Missouri. He studied creative writing and theater, earning a master's degree in theater from the University of Alabama with a focus on Shakespeare, before settling in New York City and attending the Clarion Writers Workshop. His 2009 debut novel, Powerless, published by Knopf, reworked the "chosen one" formula around an ordinary bystander among superpowered children, and grew into the Supers of Noble's Green series continued in Villainous and Super. He has also written the historical fantasy of The Secrets of the Pied Piper, the adventures of The Dead Gentleman, and the serialized middle-grade series ReMade. Cody lives in Manhattan, where he teaches fiction writing at the Gotham Writers Workshop.
