Matthew Farrer is an Australian author from Canberra, born in 1970, known for his tie-in fiction set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe for the Black Library imprint. He is best known for his Shira Calpurnia series, following an Adeptus Arbites magistrate through political and criminal intrigue in novels including Legacy, Crossfire, Blind, and Enforcer, and for later contributions to the Horus Heresy line, including the novella Angron, and to the Necromunda and Urdesh tie-in settings. He co-wrote the Warhammer Fantasy novella Execution Hour with Gordon Rennie. Farrer's fiction tends toward tightly plotted procedural and political stories set against the wider background of Warhammer 40,000's interstellar conflicts, rather than pure battlefield action.
