Matthew Reilly

Matthew Reilly (born 1974) is an Australian author of fast-paced action thrillers who has sold millions of books worldwide. After law school at the University of New South Wales, he self-published his debut novel, Contest, at nineteen following rejection from major publishers, before being picked up by Pan Macmillan. He is best known for two long-running series: the Shane Schofield novels, following a US Marine nicknamed Scarecrow through globe-spanning military missions beginning with Ice Station (1998), and the Jack West Jr. adventures, which follow a treasure-hunting soldier through ancient puzzles and international conspiracies starting with Seven Ancient Wonders (2005). Several of his novels have ranked among the best-selling Australian fiction titles of their year. Reilly made his feature directing debut with the Netflix film Interceptor in 2022.
