Maxine McArthur

Maxine McArthur is an Australian science fiction author born in 1962 in Brisbane. She spent sixteen years living in Japan before returning to Canberra in 1996, where she began her writing career. Her debut novel, Time Future (1999), won the George Turner Prize and placed in the top ten of the Locus Award for best first novel; its sequel, Time Past (2002), continued the Commander Halley series aboard a space station under alien control. Her third novel, Less Than Human (2004), won the Aurealis Award for best science fiction novel. McArthur also co-edited the anthology Encounters: An Anthology of Australian Speculative Fiction (2004) with Donna Hanson, and several of her works received Ditmar Award nominations.
