Melinda Salisbury is a British author of young adult fantasy. Her debut novel, The Sin Eater's Daughter (2015), opened a trilogy continuing with The Sleeping Prince (2016) and The Scarecrow Queen (2017), alongside the companion short-story collection The Heart Collector, set in a poison-steeped fantasy kingdom. The debut earned nominations for the Carnegie Medal, the Branford Boase Award, and the Waterstones Children's Book Prize, among other shortlistings, and was praised by Publishers Weekly for its worldbuilding. Salisbury later wrote State of Sorrow (2018) and its sequel Song of Sorrow (2019), a duology centered on grief and political intrigue, as well as the standalone novels Hold Back the Tide (2020) and Her Dark Wings (2022).
