Melissa F. Olson

Melissa F. Olson is an American author and comic book writer working primarily in urban fantasy. Born in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, she studied film and literature at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts and holds a master's degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is best known for her interconnected Old World universe, set among vampires, witches, and other supernatural factions in contemporary America, which includes the Scarlett Bernard series, the Boundary Magic books following FBI liaison Lex Luther, and Disrupted Magic, alongside the standalone Nightshades trilogy published by Tor.com. Beyond fiction, Olson has written nonfiction essays on media such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, contributed to comics anthologies including Project: Cryptid, and appears regularly as a panelist at conventions such as Comic-Con and Dragon Con.
