Michael Capobianco

Michael Capobianco is an American science fiction writer born in Washington, D.C., in 1950. He served two terms as President of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, from 1996 to 1998 and again from 2007 to 2008, and received the organization's Service to SFWA Award in 2004. His solo novel Burster (1990) follows a young man returned to Earth from a colony ship after a mysterious loss of contact. With longtime collaborator William Barton, he co-wrote several novels blending Cold War themes with space opera, including Iris (1990), Fellow Traveler (1991), Alpha Centauri (1997), and White Light (1998), and later the novel Purlieu (2017). He was married to science fiction author Ann C. Crispin.
