Michael G. Williams

Michael G. Williams is an American author of queer-themed science fiction and horror, born in 1974 and raised in Appalachia in western North Carolina; he now lives in Durham with his husband. He is best known for The Withrow Chronicles, a vampire-detective series set amid North Carolina suburbia, whose debut novel Perishables won the 2012 Laine Cunningham Novel Award. His science-fiction mystery A Fall in Autumn, opening the Autumn series, received the 2020 Manly Wade Wellman Award for its world-building and twist-driven plotting. He has also written the Servant/Sovereign novella trilogy. Beyond fiction, Williams co-hosts the folklore podcast Arcane Carolinas, winner of a 2023 WRAL Voter's Choice Award, and is a recurring speaker at speculative-fiction conventions on writing diverse perspectives and LGBTQ+ representation in genre fiction.
