Michael R. Fletcher

Michael R. Fletcher is a Canadian author of grimdark fantasy, born in 1971 and based in Toronto. After working as an audio engineer, he published his debut novel 88 in 2013, followed by Beyond Redemption in 2015, which introduced his Manifest Delusions trilogy, a series set in a world where a person's delusions can warp reality around them, praised by Publishers Weekly as 'disturbing and original.' He continued the setting in The Obsidian Path series, including Black Stone Heart, She Dreams in Blood, and An End to Sorrow. His novella In the Shadow of Their Dying, co-written with Anna Smith Spark, was a finalist for the 2025 World Fantasy Award for best novella. Fletcher's Black Stone Heart also placed second in the Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off, and his work has appeared on year-end best-of lists from Polygon and Grimdark Magazine.
