Michael R. Underwood is an American author and game designer based in Baltimore, with degrees in mythology and folklore studies from Indiana University and the University of Oregon, and a stint at the Clarion West Writers Workshop in 2007. His Ree Reyes series, beginning with Geekomancy, follows a woman who can channel the powers of games, movies, and comics in a Los Angeles where fandom itself is a magic system. He also created the Genrenauts novellas, a Stabby Award finalist about a team that travels between fictional genre worlds to fix broken stories, and wrote the space opera Annihilation Aria and the epic fantasy Shield and Crocus. Beyond fiction, Underwood has worked as a game designer on Daggerheart and Candela Obscura and co-hosts the podcast Speculate!
