Mike Chen

Mike Chen is an American novelist from the San Francisco Bay Area whose work crosses genre lines, blending science fiction with contemporary and speculative drama. His novels include Here and Now and Then (2019), A Beginning at the End (2020), and We Could Be Heroes (2021), and his fiction has earned nominations for the Goodreads Choice, Compton Crook, and BSFA Awards. Alongside his original novels, Chen writes licensed tie-in fiction for major franchises including Star Wars, Marvel, and Star Trek, including contributions to the Star Wars anthology From a Certain Point of View. Before turning to fiction full time, he spent years as a journalist covering the NHL. His writing and commentary have appeared in NPR, USA Today, and The Washington Post.
