Moira Young is a Canadian author, born in New Westminster, British Columbia, who now lives in the United Kingdom after earlier careers as an actor and opera singer. Her debut novel, Blood Red Road, opens the Dust Lands trilogy, a post-apocalyptic western following a girl who crosses a lawless wasteland to rescue her twin brother, and won the Costa Children's Book Award, the British Columbia Book Prize, and France's Prix des Incorruptibles, along with a Cybils Award and ALA-YALSA recognition in the United States. The trilogy continued with Rebel Heart, shortlisted for Canada's Sunburst Award, BC Stellar Award, and Monica Hughes Award, and concluded with Raging Star. Blood Red Road was optioned for film development by Ridley Scott's production company. Young's fiction blends spare, dialect-driven prose with fast-moving survival adventure.
