Mona Awad

Mona Awad is a Canadian novelist, born in Montreal in 1978 to an Egyptian father and a French-Canadian mother. She holds degrees from York University, the University of Edinburgh, and Brown University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Denver, and teaches creative writing at Syracuse University. Her fiction moves between literary realism and dark fantasy, often satirizing beauty standards, academia, and desire: her debut, 13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl, won the Amazon.ca First Novel Award, while Bunny, a surreal campus horror-comedy about an MFA program's uncanny clique, became a cult favorite and was optioned for film. She continued its story with We Love You, Bunny, and has also written the horror novels All's Well and Rouge.
