Nadine Brandes is an American author of young adult speculative and historical fiction. She debuted in 2013 with the Out of Time trilogy (A Time to Die, A Time to Speak, A Time to Rise) from Enclave Publishing, then reached a wider readership with Fawkes (2018), a fantasy reimagining of the Gunpowder Plot, and Romanov (2019), a fantasy retelling of the fall of the Russian imperial family. Her novel Wishtress (2022) won a Carol Award. She researches her books hands-on, having driven a dogsled and walked a tightrope for authenticity. A committed Christian, Brandes often builds her speculative premises around themes of faith and courageous, "bold living."
