Nate Southard

Nate Southard is an American horror author whose fiction spans crime-inflected splatterpunk and dark suspense. He is best known for novels including Lights Out, Red Sky, Pale Horses, and Down, along with the short-fiction collection Selected Stories, published largely through small genre presses such as Thunderstorm Books and Cemetery Dance. Southard has collaborated with fellow horror writer Lee Thomas, co-authoring the novella Focus, and his short fiction has appeared alongside other genre authors in charity and tribute anthologies. His work is frequently noted for unflinching violence paired with a strong sense of place, drawing on small-town and Southern settings, and he remains an active presence within the American independent horror-fiction scene.
