P. J. Hoover

P. J. Hoover is an American author of middle-grade fantasy and science fiction, born in 1970, whose work often draws on ancient mythology. She is best known for the Tut series, which reimagines the boy pharaoh Tutankhamun as an immortal teenager hiding in modern-day life, beginning with Tut: The Story of My Immortal Life. Her earlier Forgotten Worlds duology, comprising The Emerald Tablet and The Navel of the World, blends Atlantean myth with contemporary adventure, while Solstice turns to a near-future setting shaped by climate change. Hoover has also contributed to shared anthology projects such as the Castle of Horror Anthology series. Her fiction consistently pairs research into ancient mythology and history with fast-paced adventure plots aimed at middle-grade readers.
