Paul Edwin Zimmer

Paul Edwin Zimmer (1943-1997) was an American fantasy writer and poet, born in Albany, New York, and the younger brother of author Marion Zimmer Bradley. He began his literary career as a poet, working in historical Welsh and Old Norse verse forms, and was a founding member of the Society for Creative Anachronism. His best-known fiction is the four-volume Dark Border series -- The Lost Prince, King Chondos' Ride, A Gathering of Heroes, and Ingulf the Mad -- heroic fantasy built around psychic and martial themes. He also collaborated with his sister on novels set in her Darkover universe, including Hunters of the Red Moon and The Survivors, and is credited with uncredited contributions to other Darkover volumes. Zimmer died of a heart attack while attending a science-fiction convention in Schenectady, New York.
