Paul S. Kemp is an American fantasy and science fiction author who practices corporate law in Detroit, Michigan, having graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 2000. A prolific and popular contributor to shared-world fiction, he wrote extensively in the Forgotten Realms setting, most notably the Erevis Cale Trilogy and the concluding volume of the War of the Spider Queen series, and in the Star Wars galaxy, including Crosscurrent, Deceived, Riptide, and Lords of the Sith. He is also the creator of Tales of Egil and Nix, an original sword-and-sorcery series (The Hammer and the Blade, A Discourse in Steel) following two morally gray adventurers-for-hire through a world of thieves' guilds and demon-haunted alleys. Kemp is known as an outspoken defender of shared-world and tie-in fiction as a legitimate creative form.
