Peter Cawdron

Peter Cawdron is a New Zealand-born science fiction author, born in 1967, who has lived in Australia for many years. He began self-publishing in the early 2010s with novels centered on first contact and space opera, including Anomaly, in which a technologically advanced alien civilization arrives on Earth. He reached a wider readership with the Mars Endeavour sequence, also published as Retrograde, about a scientific outpost on Mars struggling to survive after Earth's apparent self-destruction in nuclear war, its crisis deepened by a rogue artificial intelligence. Cawdron's prose has been described as brisk and unadorned, with close attention to plausible science that has made him a recognized name in hard science fiction. He continues to write within the first-contact tradition across further novels and series.
