Peter F. Hamilton

Peter F. Hamilton (born 1960) is an English author known for large-scale space opera. Raised in Rutland, he sold his first short story in 1988 and published his debut novel, Mindstar Rising, in 1993, launching the near-future Greg Mandel trilogy. He gained wider recognition with the Night's Dawn trilogy - The Reality Dysfunction, The Neutronium Alchemist, and The Naked God - a dense, multi-viewpoint saga of a galaxy-spanning human civilization confronted by the returning dead. He continued building the same future history in the Commonwealth Saga (Pandora's Star, Judas Unchained) and the Void Trilogy, and later began the Salvation Sequence. Hamilton's novels are known for their scope, technological detail, and sprawling casts, often running to great length across multiple volumes. He won the BSFA Award for his novella "The Suspect Genome" and received the Inkpot Award in 2012 for contributions to science fiction and fantasy.
