Ramona Ausubel

Ramona Ausubel is an American writer of literary fiction with a strong vein of the fantastical, who grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and now teaches at Colorado State University after earning an MFA from the University of California, Irvine. Her fiction has appeared in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, and Tin House, and her debut novel, No One Is Here Except All of Us, won the VCU Cabell First Novelist Award. Her story collection A Guide to Being Born and the linked stories of Awayland continue her interest in myth, transformation, and family across generations, while her 2023 novel The Last Animal, about a widowed scientist and her daughters on an Arctic expedition, won the National Book Foundation's Science + Literature Prize and became a Barnes & Noble book club pick. Her honors also include a PEN Center USA Literary Award for Fiction.
