Rob J. Hayes

Rob J. Hayes is a British fantasy author born in 1986 in Basingstoke, Hampshire, who has worked as a student, banker, marine research assistant, and chef before turning to writing full time. He writes across multiple unconnected epic-fantasy series, including The War Eternal, a dark, first-person series featuring a female antihero protagonist; The Mortal Techniques, an Asian-inspired sword-and-sorcery series; and First Earth. He has also written tie-in fiction for the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Hayes describes his own work as spanning epic, gothic, and science-fantasy styles, often drawing comparisons to Mark Lawrence and Robin Hobb. With twenty-three titles across nine series, he has built a career as a self-published fantasy author known for morally complex, high-body-count storytelling published independently of traditional houses.
