Robert Charles Wilson

Robert Charles Wilson (born 1953) is an American-born science fiction author who grew up near Toronto and became a Canadian citizen in 2007. He sold his first story in 1975 and built a career of philosophically minded, character-driven science fiction, often examining ordinary people confronting cosmic-scale events. His best-known work is Spin (2005), winner of the Hugo Award for Best Novel, in which Earth is suddenly enclosed by an artificial barrier that slows time relative to the rest of the universe; it was followed by Axis and Vortex. His other novels include Darwinia, an alternate history in which Europe is mysteriously replaced overnight, and The Chronoliths, winner of the John W. Campbell Memorial Award. Wilson has also won the Philip K. Dick Award for Mysterium and Aurora Awards for his fiction; Stephen King has called him one of the finest science-fiction writers at work today.
