Robert Freeman Wexler

Robert Freeman Wexler (born 1961 in Houston, Texas) is an American author whose fiction has been described as surreal and kaleidoscopic in its treatment of genre tropes. He began publishing genre fiction with the story "Suspension" in 2001, later collected in Psychological Methods to Sell Should Be Destroyed (2008). His novella In Springdale Town (2003) depicts a dreamlike, trope-saturated Zone, while Circus of the Grand Design (2004) takes a looser, picaresque approach to similar material. The Painting and the City conveys a secret history of New York through a mysterious painting's long story. His novel The Silverberg Business (2022), framed as a Weird Detective Western set in 1888, hints at an alternate history beneath its surface realism.
