Rodolfo Martínez

Rodolfo Martínez is a Spanish computer programmer and author, born in 1965 in Asturias, regarded as one of the most prolific and critically acclaimed Spanish science fiction and fantasy writers of his generation. His debut novel, La sonrisa del gato (The Cat's Smile, 1995), a cyberpunk-espionage thriller and the opening entry in his long-running Drímar saga, won Spain's Ignotus Award for best novel; a second Drímar novel, Tierra de nadie: Jormungand, won the Ignotus the following year, and his novella This Lightning, This Madness won an Ignotus Award for best novella. Beyond the Drímar universe, he is known for a series reimagining Sherlock Holmes as an investigator whose life has been unnaturally extended, the linked La ciudad cycle, the Queen's Adept novels, and tie-in fiction set in Robert E. Howard's Hyborian Age.
