Ron Goulart (1933-2022) was an American writer of science fiction, fantasy, and mystery, born in Berkeley, California. Over a career spanning six decades he wrote at a prolific pace, often under pseudonyms, publishing satirical novels, comic scripts, and novelizations alongside pop-culture histories such as Cheap Thrills: An Informal History of the Pulp Magazines. His fiction favored anarchic humor and technology gone wrong through incompetence rather than malice, running through series such as the Chameleon Corps (Ben Jolsen), the Barnum System books, and a run of Groucho Marx mysteries, plus tie-in work for The Avenger, The Phantom, Flash Gordon, and Vampirella comics, and the TekWar novels ghostwritten for William Shatner. He was Edgar Award-nominated for After Things Fell Apart, and remained a fixture of genre publishing into his eighties.
