Jae-Jones, known as JJ, is an American author of Korean descent, born and raised in Los Angeles, who spent childhood summers with her grandmother in Seoul; Korean was her first language, though she describes herself as functionally illiterate in written Korean today. She studied English and American literature and art history at New York University. A New York Times bestselling author, she is best known for the Wintersong duology (Wintersong, Shadowsong), a retelling of the Goblin King legend blending Romantic-era music and German folklore, and for the Guardians of Dawn series -- Zhara, Ami, and Yuli -- an East Asian-inspired epic fantasy. Beyond writing, she practices taekwondo, holds a skydiving license, and co-hosts the publishing podcast Publishing Crawl.
