Samantha Hunt

Samantha Hunt is an American novelist and short story writer born in 1971 in Pound Ridge, New York. She teaches writing at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Her debut novel, The Seas (2004), earned her the National Book Foundation's "5 Under 35" honor in 2006, and she went on to write The Invention of Everything Else (2008), a fictionalized account of inventor Nikola Tesla's later years, and Mr. Splitfoot (2016), a ghost story woven around two intertwined narratives. Her story collection The Dark Dark (2017) extended her literary reputation. Hunt has received the Bard Fiction Prize, the St. Francis College Literary Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and was a finalist for the Orange Prize.
