Samantha van Leer

Samantha van Leer is an American writer who made her published debut as a teenager, co-authoring the young adult novel Between the Lines (2012) with her mother, bestselling novelist Jodi Picoult -- itself Picoult's first foray into YA fiction. The book follows Delilah, a bookish outcast who discovers she can communicate with Oliver, the prince trapped inside the pages of her favorite fairy tale, and was nominated for the Young Adult Library Services Association's Teen's Top Ten Award in 2013; it was later adapted into a musical staged at Kansas City Repertory Theatre and, in 2022, Off-Broadway. Van Leer and Picoult followed it with a sequel, Off the Page, in 2015. She has since published under her own name alone, including Finding the Lost One (2025).
