Sara Farizan

Sara Farizan is an Iranian-American author of young-adult fiction, born in Newton, Massachusetts, and educated at Lesley University. Her debut novel, If You Could Be Mine (2013), about two young women in Iran navigating a forbidden relationship, won the Lambda Literary Award for Children's and Young Adult Literature, the Ferro-Grumley Award, and the Edmund White Award, and was selected for the American Library Association's Rainbow List, as was her follow-up, Tell Me Again How a Crush Should Feel. She has since published Here to Stay and, moving into horror, Dead Flip (2022) and its sequel Ghost Light, alongside short fiction in anthologies including Fresh Ink and All Out. Farizan's fiction centers LGBTQ characters and, in her recent horror work, small-town supernatural mystery.
