Sarah Ash

Sarah Ash is a British fantasy author born in 1950 in Bath, Somerset, and the sister of fellow fantasy writer Jessica Rydill. She is best known for the Tears of Artamon trilogy (Lord of Snow and Shadows, Prisoner of Ironsea Tower, Children of the Serpent Gate), an epic set in a Russian-flavored empire where the emperor's dynasty carries a dangerous, dragon-linked curse passed down through the bloodline. She continued the same world in The Alchymist's Legacy, beginning with Flight into Darkness and Tracing the Shadow. Her earlier work includes the standalone novels Moths to a Flame and Songspinners, and she has more recently returned to fantasy with the Tide Dragons series, including The Arkhel Conundrum and The Flood Dragon's Sacrifice. Ash's fiction is known for combining richly imagined Eastern European-inspired settings with intimate, character-focused stakes.
